Couples getting married on August 27, 2022 in Alberta

Hi: I am thinking of holding our wedding in 2022 since I am hoping the public should be vaccinated by then for COVID. I am still having issues finding venues. I still want a small pop up wedding with immediate family only. They either don't want to book at all or Some vendor are even pushing me to book for 2021 summer...maybe to make up for revenue loss last year. Anyone else having issues? Is hiring a planner helpful?

    This probably won’t be helpful, but just our experience! We booked our venue in early December 2020 for Aug 27, 2022, we’re planning on having about 120 guests. We didn’t have too much trouble (we’re in the Calgary area), most venues were happy for us to book as we put intended to put money down promptly so it gave them some income? I hadn’t experienced any pressure from venues to change our date, I’m so sorry you are experiencing that!!
    I wish I could offer some venue ideas for the Edmonton area, because lots of venues we spoke to in Calgary seemed very accommodating for smaller guest amounts and even doing a cost reflective of the guest number (given covid). Not sure if you have any ties, but maybe a destination (to Calgary!) wedding would be worth looking at?
