Couples getting married on August 21, 2021 in British Columbia

Hello,

I hope everyone is keeping safe and healthy!

I just discovered the community section of this website and I am really liking the conversations. It is nice to hear the thoughts, ideas, and opinions of other couples in these very similar and unfortunate situations. We all know it sucks planning a wedding right now with so many unknowns, but, I have found some comfort reading your posts, thank you!

We are currently scheduled be married on August 21, 2021 but we are making a final postponement decision by April. All of our vendors are booked and the thought of rebooking everything is really frustrating/disheartening. I am currently on maternity leave, so I feel like it is a nice time to be wedding planning--I don't want to do it all again next year when I am back to work full-time.

We originally planned a big wedding (200 guests), but we have scaled it back and made an 'A' list with 50. I would love to go ahead with the 50 person guest list but I really don't want to celebrate with less than that. This vaccine roll out seems to be very up and down and so confusing.

I am hoping to connect with some couples in similar situations!

Yes, I think outdoor options will be a lot more flexible when it come to rules and restrictions. We have recently decided to downsize our wedding to the intimate number of 30 guests. Our ceremony was always going to be outside. Now we will host the reception outside too, in our own backyard. It is not what I imagined, but I really want to go ahead with it. Fingers crossed we get the green light for this.

My fiancé and I are in a similar place. We are getting married August 28 2021. We are holding out hope for 50 people one thing our venue suggested to us was holding an outdoor reception. Being outdoors may allow some flexibility on the whole mask thing. So as of right now we are planning for 50 outdoors but we have a back up plan if we need to adjust our numbers. We are making our final decision by the end of May hoping that by then we will know more!

My fiance and I are ok with having 50 people if it comes down to it. But having to wear masks and not being able to dance and mingle during the reception, is a big deal for us. I want to be able to remember our evening and being able to dance with everyone, not being stuck out our tables all night.

You're so right, dancing might be my biggest hurdle right now. I have wrapped my head around the 'mirco' wedding idea and have grown to really like it, but no dancing and full masks really doesn't get me excited.

Welcome to weddingwire! This group has helped me in so many ways during this crazy year for sure!

My fiance and I are getting married August 7 2021 in Kelowna. We've already postponed once from August 8 2020. Just this past week, I've been in contact with our venue and our vendors to see if we are able to postpone for a second time until next summer if we need to. Everyone is will to switch to our new tentative date if we make that decision. We want to make a decision by the end of April as well. Just so our guests know what is going on and we're not just sitting around and waiting and seeing how the world is going to play out in the next few months.

I'm skeptical of this vaccine myself. Even though vaccines are rolling out, some restrictions might still be in place until the end of the year. Like no dancing at the reception. And who doesn't want dancing at their wedding!
