We are still going with our date also! Just our family. I have had a few ppl say that about our glasses... just need to come up with a witty saying Smiley smile I'm happy to hear you are still making your day memorable still!

We are postponing the party but still having the ceremony this year with 23 people. I think it would be funny to keep the glasses, people could have a story to tell, “this was the year that it was supposed to be..but then this thing happened”

I am going to print save the dates from vista print that say “save the date, it’s only a year late.”

Hey everyone ! We just made the decision to postpone Smiley sad Untill Feb 2021...Im just waiting on the response from our venue. It was a super hard decision! Out of curiosity...how many of you decided on changing your date? If so, had you sent out your invites yet? I had already sent mine out and now I dont know what to do except word of mouth to let people know that we have changed the date! Also for "take home gifts" we had etched wine glasses made with the orginal date on them....I don't know how to fix that now since obvioulsly it's not the same date...yes some of our guest were saying it's not going to matter ppl will understand...but I when I look around the room...it's going to matter to me!!

I'm not sure what the fate is going to be for us. It is at a hotel in Surrey. We have 60 ppl invited. If the Physical distancing distance is going to be continued there is a great possibility that we will have to postpone Smiley sad. It does make me upset if we do have to do that but I realize it is for the good of everyone and their health. We did decide that if the reception wasn't going to happen that we would just do a ceremony with extremely close friends and family. It has come to my attention that people that had ceremonies up to May...that no marriage licences were being issued. So I guess that now depends on if they are going to be issuing them. Hopefully by end of June they will be. Im glad that you are staying positive! Im def trying to also!

Luckily our wedding was going to be fairly small at a restaurant in Vancouver, so we can easily postpone it. To be quite honest I am already in peace with the decision of postponing it until next summer. Most of our guests were coming from the US and we have been together for 7 years already, so we can wait one more year Smiley smile Are there restrictions on getting wedding licenses now?

    Hello!

My date is also July 18th and I'm also worried about if it's going to happen?!?! We thought if need be we would just reschedule the reception, and just get married in a simple ceremony but now I'm thinking what if we cant get a licence either Smiley sad I wish I had some advice for you....I'm in limbo myself! Where were you guys planning on getting married?

I had previously sent invites we have 40 something RSVPd I guess if it comes to it I will have to decide which people to message to make it less than 50 people. This really sucks all the time and money put into it. Let’s hope come July things are better controlled

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you!!

We are getting married at The Civic Center in Surrey BC ( right beside the Surrey Central Skytrain Station). For the year of 2020 they are waiving venue fee's and just charging catering costs. We choose a plated dinner for 60 people and our cost is about $3500.00. We did choose a little more in cost for the food since there wasnt a charge for the venue...Which is normally 2 grand I think.

    Hi everyone!!

I'm also getting married on July 18/20...in Surrey, BC...I'd like to think that I'm on track with things! Found a great Venue that for the year of 2020 they are not charging Venue fee's ( Just catering costs) the menu is a little pricier than most menu's I've looked at...but with no Venue fee's...it fit into our budget. Alot of our decor is DIY. I'm still on the fence about what to do for Thank-You/Take Home gifts yet

I as well am getting married on the 18th! Congrats 😊
We did only save the dates for the people that are out of province that needs a full year's notice other than that all out bc out of towners get an invitation prob March next year!

But if they are out of town September isn't too soon in my option if you aren't doing save the dates!

Well i'm a little slow on the uptake, but i am also getting married the 18th, in victoria though. and about 60% destination wedding honestly. I am from victoria but i met my fiance here in iceland and he is icelandic. so in response to the save the date conversation we did do save the dates, but are handing them out to the icelanders ourselves, and my mom is getting the canadian side. just a few to mail. i have heard invitations shouldnt really be much more than 3 months in advance, or people will forget to rsvp. but we know half of our people need to book flights sooner than later, so we are handing out save the dates now for them to start thinking about it. Smiley laugh

PS: not really stressed yet either, except catering, i am just getting around to booking it because i was avoiding it and now that i'm doing it i still dont like it.

We discussed if we should send out the paper version or simply utilize what the free wedding website that weddingwire offers to keep everything altogether, then we decided to go for the paperless route. there will be no risk of missing the delivery and that indeed saved some time and costs. now we have to do some homework to think what to include in our wedding website and the FB private event pages.

besides, most of our guests are from outside of Canada. This should be the fastest way to deliver the information. Smiley smile

I didn’t buy save the dates cause I found it to be a waste of paper and money when people look at it then throw it away. I just got the invites made, I was debating sending them out in September? Too early? I don’t know

We are now at the brainstorm stage to throw ideas and to see how our visions can fit in to our tiny budget. I am the one doing most of the planning - more like getting things well-organized. It is nothing different than putting together an office christmas party or any of the project to manage. just set up the deadlines for all the to-do's and leave room for glitch...... so far, i'm not stressed at all. really enjoy the process.
