It's these simple things that I always forget about. My maid of honour's birthday is next week and my fiancé's birthday is next month. Instead of just randomly practicing I will do so for these birthdays. Silly me for not thinking of this before. And thank you for the tip, I will look into the baking strips!

Ohhhh and if you're planning on making your own cake, look into getting Wilton bake right strips. I've watched a baker online, Preppy Kitchen, absolutely rave about how it always gives flat layers!

Thanks for the tips! I love the idea of thrift shopping for decor! I'll definitely have to do it now that you mention it. I'm also going to attempt to bake my own cake, but to make it easier will do a big cupcake tree with a small cake at the top to cut into. Going to do a practice run sometime over the winter lol

View quoted message I heard of a website called afloral when browsing here and it's got a bunch of silk flowers for fairly cheap, I'm planning on doing my flowers with the help of youtube tutorials and that :p Thrift shopping for vases and other decor too. My mother is also a fairly good cake decorator and I bake so we'll be attempting our own cake. If all else fails... I'll buy the grocery store out of cupcakes I guess!

Well I'm definitely behind on my planning so haven't run into too many issues, but seem to overthink absolutely everything. I'm currently trying to pick a caterer and menu and can't make a decision. If you've found any cool ways to cut costs I would love to hear as I'm trying to keep things as inexpensive as possible

It's definitely been such a journey!! What with bridesmaid drama, trying to figure out catering for people with weird allergies, finding ways to DIY and cut costs, it's been a whole thing. Not to mention, we realized our colours don't work as well as we thought yesterday, we had to go on a fallback! How have you found the planning?

View quoted message Thank you, thank you! Our most recent decision was probably our photographer, we found them at the Atlantic wedding showcase a few weeks ago and that was exciting.
We have our anniversary at the end of September and that's why I wanted a September wedding. She told me while we were thinking about dates that her parents and all of her grandparents were married on September 16th, and my mother originally planned her wedding for September 16th as well so it seemed like destiny! We're super happy to have found our officiant and venue early on so we have our date secure.
