Costco Hydrangeas

Maria, on May 8, 2020 at 15:27 Posted in DIY 0 8

Hello everyone,

Has anybody used hydrangeas from Costco for their wedding day? I cannot justify spending thousands of dollars on flowers and I am thinking the best would be for me to do it by myself, but I am really nervous.

I would like to know your experience with Costco flowers, specially hydrangeas as I hear they are picky with their water.

I hear tons of great reviews about Costco flowers, but I would like to know more about when did you put your arrangements together? I am worried about doing it the day of the wedding, because of time. But also I worry that doing it the day before will sacrifice freshness or risking them dying. Not sure what is best.

Any tips or guidance will be appreciated Smiley smile

Thank you so much ladies for all of your input! I appreciate it Smiley smile

I will probably do a trial centre piece to see how the flowers behave and then go from there.

All my fresh Costco flowers die very fast! Only ones who was not too bad, was tulips!

Maybe you could, buy and make one bouquet , and create what you would like for wedding and see how long they will look good!Smiley laugh

Have you thought about using babies breath? It’s inexpensive and very pretty.

If you're getting hydrangeas, I would highly suggest using a skilled florist since they're so finicky as you mentioned. They also droop and wilt much quicker and need to be made and delivered day of, not night before.

If you're using other more commonly available flowers then Costco is fine. If you get them the night before, don't stick them in your fridge because it'll dry out the flowers!

I think it says to have them delivered 2-3 days before wedding date so they will be fully opened for wedding day. Their website says when you should order. You would have a couple of days before to get them put together

I'm in the same boat as you - we don't have the budget for expensive floral so we likely aren't using much, but wondering where to go for the stuff we do want. Nice looking fake is as expensive as real, so we want to go real - but stressed about the time crunch involved.

A friend of mine ordered flowers from Costco and she swears by them! I know she had white but I can't remember if they were hydrangeas. Her only issue was the delivery company tried to say that no one was home and they almost didn't get their flowers so track that delivery like a hawk!

They received them on Thursday afternoon, arranged them themselves that night and stored them in containers of water in their basement to keep them cool until Saturday. I had no idea until recently that they weren't from a florist.
