I looked at tons of STD and invitations first and that helped me narrow it down, then I viewed the venue I knew I wanted and made sure that my colours complimented the ones the venue was already decorated with. I also chose colours that I knew I would be able to find cheap decor.

I took a picture I love (it happened to be a picture of eucalyptus) and used the Adobe color wheel to get the colours. It was a fun way to do it. I then picked June because I want peonies at my wedding. Smiley flower

Hey Leanne! I love the one you went for! Great choice! Like Sam sad, you could even go for a Paris themed wedding Smiley smile Ideas to bring a little bit of Paris into your wedding!

The colours are also absolutely beautiful for a starry night theme: 8 ideas to bring stars into your wedding

You could go for different shades of blue to keep your options opened like Valerie said and include some white, or silver Smiley smile How do you like the idea?

It happens to the best of us. I've surprised myself with how calm I've been in planning... I'm a details person and usually make myself crazy, but I found using the different shades has REALLY taken the pressure off!!!

Haha I think you're over thinking it a bit Alexis. I personally love purple, but I also love all shades of it. So I started looking for things and I KNEW I wanted to customize some sneakers to wear (as I hate heels) so when I found the pair I liked the only purple option was a magenta, which I freaking loved!! So boom! I ordered them and matched items to that. But I found it too bold for the reception, so I went with a lighter purple for my decor items. I feel like if you try to match everything perfectly and something is a shade or 2 off it looks bad, but if you INTENTIONALLY have different shades then you aren't really locked into one and it looks like it should be that way!
Then again I like the "mismatched look" and my BM's are in different shades of turquoise/teal and so my decor has a few different shades. And I obviously haven't seen it all together yet, but I think it's looking good so far!
Don't get hung up in the colour names, everywhere calls them different things! Just bring color swatches, it's the best way to ensure the right match. You'll drove yourself crazy trying match everything perfectly!

I like that idea, however, where do you start to choose the specific colour you want? Did you start with the thought of "Okay I know I like purple and we're going to go from there?"

I feel as though it can get so complicated sometimes!!! I thought I wanted a certain champagne but champage is interpreted differently for linens compares to dresses compared to invitations, etc. Sometimes it's more rosé, sometimes more yellow, sometimes more beige.

So many things to consider and therefore so many different points at which one may begin. The colours of the venue sometimes need to be taken into consideration (a botanical garden for example doesn't call for a lot of added colour in the decor, for example), or the bride's dress (certain beiges for example might not look great beside a more champagne or ivory wedding dress), maybe there's a particular bridesmaid dress a couple has in mind, or colours that will compliment your bridesmaids.

    WHERE TO BEGIN?!

Ooo j'adore! I love everything Paris! You can find lots of Eiffel Tower decorations in silver so that is a great options! Is the invitation navy? It looks pretty and I think charcoal could go with it. Or you could do like navy, silver and a light grey if you were worried about it being too dark.

You don't have to do a theme though. Some couples just use a colour scheme and then an overall style for the wedding like rustic or elegant. What does your fiance think?

Nothing as exquisite as this!We chose the invite. But I'm unsure which COLOUR the invite is going to be.. (look close enough and you can see 3 types). But I'm wondering if charcoal is too dark to go with this.. and maybe a silver and white? If I can find suitable centre pieces in silver (maybe eiffel towers. ..duh. . , then fantastic... otherwise I need something else. Lol
Eiffel tower isn't all that magical to me.. I've been there. Nothing like movies. Military all over because of gypsies who have their kids pickpockets.. the lights at night are impressionable though!

I wanted the white background invitation... he wanted the Paris.. it's my own fault really lmao. We started with about 12. And I made sure that they all covered the save the date, invite and rsvp... because many of them DIDN'T have all 3. I also made sure to select place cards (for if we go that route), that would match.. I let him narrow it down to his 3 favourites... and this is what we were left with.
So that's as far as I've gone in this department. It's nice to read how other people have chosen

My favourite colour is purple and my husband also likes purple so it was an easy pick for wedding colours. We went with a plum colour because we were having a fall wedding and chose charcoal to compliment it. For our theme, we went with Our Story. We wanted our wedding to be very personal and reflect our personalities. Also, I love to read and my husband has a degree in screen writing so we thought it fit us! We used vintage books for our centerpieces, all our flowers were made out of paper, our aisle runner for the ceremony was made out of book pages, our invitations looked like a purple book. We had a chalkboard sign that told our story by listing important dates in our relationship. We had a slideshow before the ceremony with pictures throughout our relationship. We also used photos of us and our guests as escort cards for the reception.

What ideas have you come up with so far?

I just picked a colour I liked and then a colour that matched! Then I added in a neautral tone so it's not so BOLD (my colours are purple, teal/turquoise and white). You can look for inspiration in the season (fall colours are goregous), but they don't HAVE to match to the season. Some people draw inspiration from favourite fandoms (like if you were super into Harry Potter and you and FH were both Gryfindor you could do red and gold). There's no real rules!
