Cocktail Reception, What do you think of our menu?

Andrea, on September 8, 2019 at 11:39 Posted in Wedding reception 0 12

Hi friends,

Me and my fiance are opting out of a traditional meal and having a cocktail reception taking place late (after dinner time). I know it's a different type of style, but it works for us, and this is what we're doing. We've put together a tentative menu, and I'd like to know what you all think. If you have any suggestions or things you'd change if it were you, please let me know and leave your comments!

Savoury:

Spring rolls (veggie)

Sandwich Platters (meat and vegetarian)

Cheese and Cracker Platters

Chicken wings

Meatballs

Vegetable Platters

Desserts/Sweet Items:

Wedding cake

Fruit Platters

Cheese cakes

Cannolis

Cupcakes

Alcohol/Drinks

Beer Keg

Sparkling wine on each table

2 special mixed drinks (Rum and coke, Gin and Orange Juice.

And of course, we'd have a few selections of sodas, and have water as well.

What do you all think about this menu? Is it too light? Not enough selections? Anything should be added or omitted?

I think that's a nice selection. We have 6 savory options and 8 dessert options that we are serving the same way. But we spent most of our budget on going overboard on foods.

That's a big yes! I have a few things that need to be done like decor diy and have to get the material for our guest book but everything is booked and ready to go otherwise! Just need to contact vendors and see who prefers cash, e-transfer, or cheque.

Not replace, just add - didn't see the gin! But at the same time I hate gin so out of the options you have listed I wouldn't have much if anything that would interest me. As long as you know everybody will have something they like or don't mind if they don't have a drink then it would be fine.

For my wedding we are having pretty much 1 of everything except beer we are having multiple brands.

    Hey Tori,

Are you saying the gin should replace the vodka? Because gin is a clear alcohol beverage. Oh we definitely want to stay away from tequila. Our families are big on mostly rum and coke. Thank you so much for your feedback!

I think I need an invite! lol

I would add a clear something with vodka though. Looking at your drinks I'm thinking I wouldn't want any of those - which if you know your guests and it won't be a problem then ignore me, but vodka is usually a pretty easy go to. For my wedding we are also having tequila but I'm big into tequila where I know that my guests as well as most people have had their fun with that in their early 20's... but I'm 22 so... I think that is fine. It's not replacing a meal so you don't need it to be an extensive menu.
I think there's something for everyone there.
