Christmas is coming ....

Natasha, on November 22, 2016 at 11:41 Posted in Living together 0 21

So I didnt quiet know where to put this ... so I am ploping it here, lol As I am sure we are all aware christmas is fast approaching, and well so are wedding dates ... My Fh and I decided since money is tight this year due to planning and paying for the wedding ourselves that we would only buy gifts for my son since he still believes in Santa.. and only do each others stocking ... because well it would look fishy if santa didnt leave us anything in our stockings.. plus one small gift under the tree for each other $40 dollar limit .... and We decided the money we would have spent on each other we both agreed on $200 each we will put into our savings account we opened for our honeymoon !!Smiley heart so yeah $400 towards our honeymoon !!

Now my problem is I cant think of a gift for him lol ... heck I cant even come up with stocking items lol ... what are you ladies doing for your FH or any of the men in your lives?? Are any of you doing similar things for christmas to try and save a bit of money for your weddings ??

We haven't really discussed it but I like the idea that we are giving each other a wedding this year. I usually give him clothes since he never buys for himself or if he does it is "good enough" and he sometimes ends up with pants that are 2 inches too short and things like that.

That would be a very sweet present! Smiley catface You could even make a countdown on your mugs! Something like chalkboard mugs and every once in a while write how many days are left before the wedding Smiley smile

My FH is very practical so I'm going to fill his stocking with the socks he likes, his favourite candy, maybe a gift card so he can grab lunch on me one day during work.....just stuff like that! I'm looking for other interesting ideas do let me know if you come across any!

Hey Natasha! You could go for something sweet and loving for your home! Smiley love

    Couple Gifts

I think it's a great idea to invest that money towards your honeymoon and get a few little gifts! Smiley heart

I'm glad you started this discussion since it's related to your wedding, but be careful not to go off topic. We like to keep the community about weddings Smiley smile

Maybe you could also make a little DIY? Something he can use or keep as a memory?

My FH said to m he does not want any gifts this year. But he mentioned wanting to get an Italian movie and I'm thinking of surprising him with that since it is inexpensive.

That is kind of what we are doing for members of our family, we just had family photos done by our photographer ( it was built into our weddding package so didnt cost a dime Smiley smile ) so FH and I are picking a different shot for every person and framing it and that will be their gift from us this year !

I'm with you! We just had our wedding and are going on our honeymoon in a couple weeks and my husband's birthday is the beginning of Dec and then we have Christmas so it's a very expensive time of the year! We both agreed that we wouldn't be doing lots of gifts this year and that our wedding gifts to each other would also be for his birthday/Christmas. (I got him a VERY fancy watch!) I do want to get him a couple little things for his bday/Christmas so he'd have something. I got him some Muppets Tsum Tsums as a stocking stuffer because we collect them and he loves The Muppets. I'll probably put some of his favourite chocolates in his stocking too. I also got him a small game called Punderdome for his birthday.

Romantic "coupons" are also always fun! (Good for one movie night of your choice, good for one back massage, etc) I made some for him for Valentine's Day one year.

We are thinking of giving our parents and grandparents one of our engagement photos in a frame. We are very limited on money so we are only doing little things that don't cost a lot!

We're doing something similar. We limited how much we're spending on friends/family and making things if possible. And a strict $50 MAX on stuff for eachother, and since we've been cutting out so much, they're likely going to be super practical things HAHA (stupid adulting).

I told FH to get me a massage (I used to get them with my last company's benefits but since I switched companies a few times recently, I don't have any benefits and I miss my massaged SO MUCH). And FH had the dog in his car a few weeks ago and the poor thing had explosive... poop (it was the most delicate way I could word that) all over his backseats, so I think I'm going to get his car cleaned/detailed.

You could get your FH practical things like socks and cool work snacks (or like food gift cards)... I know what you mean with being strapped for ideas! I'm usually already done shopping/making gifts by December 1st, but all my time and creativity is going into the wedding and I've just been coming up blank on gift ideas this year!

FH and I are restricting Christmas gifts this year too (and have no kiddos to trick, so easy get away!). I think a wedding is a nice gift to give one another!

I have been looking at maybe doing a move night out to see Star Wars...we will both enjoy it, and we otherwise wouldn't go out to see a movie.
