Change surname

Hi everyone. When I change my surname do I notify the cra? I only want to assume his last name not legally change it. We are getting married in October. Just wondering about the legalities of this

    Legally changing it is when you change your birth certificate, but you change everything else when you assume it except your birthday certificate.

    What is the difference with assuming and legally changing the name?

    Changing your name may require the wedding certificate once you've signed the marriage license at the ceremony. Once you get your marriage certificate 3 months later, it will be required to change your surname officially to his with the proof shown for driving license, health and SIN. You may then use the surname for the taxes purposes. I'm not sure if the idea of changing your name now will allow you to be used for the tax return.

    I'm assuming so, as when you do your taxes the names should match up
