I think music is an important part of the ceremony. Would you consider a flute player? The delicate sound of the flute would be beautiful against the natural backdrop with the sound of water and birds singing.

Our ceremony is also outside and on the edge of a river next to a small waterfall. We're having a friend play the cello as we thought the sounds of the river/waterfall might be a little distracting

We are having a DJ at the reception, and because our ceremony and reception are at the same venue, they offered to do the ceremony music as a part of the price for the reception. If you already have a DJ booked, I would ask them how much or if they could throw in the ceremony portion as it is really only 30 minutes, probably less, worth of music needed. We are just having instrumental music played during the ceremony and we are also having bagpipes while I walk down the aisle.

For the reception I am getting a dj but the ceremony I am getting friend of friend to play a flute and violin during our outdoor ceremony. We aren't doing traditional music for our ceremony. I'm sure you'll find something that will add to your ceremony. Smiley smile

We are having an outdoor ceremony in a hotel courtyard. We are having a band called the women in black. They play string instruments. I think it would be a little too quiet without anything playing.

We're having an outdoor wedding and there will be music to welcome guests, music for my walk down the aisle, and maybe music during the cocktail hour. There will definitely be music during the reception. I think it is a personal choice but can add a lot of atmosphere to a moment. Though I do agree with Katherine that the natural sounds of the outdoors will mean that it is not silent.

I don't think you need music... I've been to two outdoor weddings that didn't have any... It would not be silent since you are outdoors... Wind birds ect... It would be very hard to control the acoustics.

I have Spotify, which is a great saving for music. No Dj cost, I am doing Spanish Guitar for the ceremony while people are getting settle down. it is an outdoor Wedding .

If it's about cost you could always either rent a sound system or just have a good portable speaker like a Bose or something and play your own music
