Centrepieces!

Natalie, on November 11, 2018 at 18:49 Posted in Wedding reception 0 4

Question for those who have already purchased their centerpieces:

We've purchased all of our vases for the venue and are trying to decide between real of synthetic flowers for the bouquets.

The issue with synthetic (which is what I wanted because I could arrange them weeks in advance and ease my anxiety) is that they can amount to more than the real thing! I also liked the idea of keeping a few centerpieces for the house decor and selling the rest to another buyer who'd take them already made, but I am always about saving money at the end of the day.

1. How much money (per centerpiece) did you spend? What did you choose to go with?

2. Who did you go with? What is their information?

Help me choose! Smiley cry

My wedding is in January, so I'm taking full advantage of winter = no flowers. I'm making "bouquets" out of pine cones glued to a ball, so it looks like a bouquet of 'flowers'. I think I'm going to try to resell my full centrepieces, kind of like a pre-sale "these will be available X date"... we'll see....

I think if you're willing to re-sell them, I'd go with the synthetic. Like you said, it's easier for you, and essentially will cost less, because you won't make any money back on the real flowers.

We have our centrepiece items picked out and purchased. We bought wood rounds as a base to hold a frame, table number and recycled mason jar. We plan to purchase babies breath from Costco (we have a few family members who have a membership who can help us out). You can bulk order it online for $140.00 ish, and I have read reviews on here and on the Barrie FB group that it is more than enough for the 16 tables we have and people often ended up having extra. That should work out to less than $10/table! They have a wide variety of florals to choose from though.

At a bridal show I met with a consultant that handles the florals at Costco and she recommended to come in with pictures of what you would like to achieve and she would be able to order the correct amount needed so we won't have too much extra that we can't use but we are also guaranteed to have the right amount we need - less stress!

I believe you place the order a couple weeks in advance and pick up as close to the wedding as you are comfortable with, obviously you would chat with them to set a day and time that works best with your wedding day timeline.

As for my bouquets, I did artificial from Michaels and got a steal of a deal. I totally understand the anxiety around waiting until the last minute for things but its totally your call. If you do purchase artificial just remember you will want a good spot to store them so they don't become squished or eaten by any pets you may have (: *Also I am re purposing the bouquets to be the flowers at the head table as well.

I was originally going to go with creating centre pieces. But I couldn’t decide what I wanted. Once I found the florist for my bouquets, she did a quote including the centre pieces and I fell in love with them. So I decided to go with real flowers. I’m in Alberta, but our centre pieces are $75 each and the vase is $15. I am hoping to dry a couple to keep in the house. I love real flowers so I’m glad I went that route. This is the inspiration photo from the florist
