Catering vs all inclusive

Cassie, on January 21, 2020 at 21:57 Posted in Wedding reception 0 3
Hey everyone!!

I’m in need of some advice. My fiancé and I have been starting the search for the perfect venue. So far everything we have considered has been packages- price is all in one type deal. The venue takes care of majority of the bigger details (food, alcohol, tableware etc.) I’m totally down for that!
Here’s the thing I’m curious about... I fell in love with a venue that does not have a kitchen so catering is obviously the go to. Is this going to be more expensive? I would have to get a liquor license and insurance for the day and all theses little details that I didn’t take into consideration since other venues I looked at had that provided already. I’m just torn. In the end is this going to end up costing way more..? I knew I bride that had a perfect venue and had catering at an amazing price per person so it ended up being worth it for her. I know I still have some looking around to do before we book the perfect venue, but what did everyone else do ? Choose something all inclusive or go with the alternative rout of catering and taking things into your own hands?

We went with the package, mostly because we loved our venue, they had amazing food, and gave us a deal. Our guest list was too small for most caterers anyways; It will likely depend on your head count and if you can find a caterer with a decent price.
You marry also want to ask if your caterer carries workers compensation if they have their own employees at your venue. Just like the insurance, you want to be safe about it

It's more of a headache - but for my wedding we did outside bar tending, outside food catering, and basically the only thing the venue supplied was the venue/cabins/firewood/archway.

I would check with that venue as all venues are different, but most likely you will need to get your own permit and buy your own alcohol, but you can hire a bartending service to serve the drinks and they will most likely be willing to sign the papers to be responsible or you could have a parent sign it so that you guys can drink the night away. Plus most if not all bartending services provide the mix, cups, garnishes, ice, etc.

Cost us less than going with a venue that wanted to charge $80/head and provided the booze and food!

We went with the package deal. I did not want the headache of booking or forgetting anything I needed to do. I'm sure if you do all that you can save a lot of money. Since we are having a winter wedding we wanted something that had everything. Once our guests arrive they don't have to go anywhere else. Our venue is our ceremony spot and our place to sleep for the night. Half our guests will be travelling about an hour and a half to get here. I'm assuming most of them will just stay the night. Plus our MOH and BM will stay the night and possibly some of the guests from this area.
