Catering struggles

Lauren, on June 10, 2020 at 12:00 Posted in Wedding reception 0 8
Hey everyone! My fiance and I are getting married June 19 2021 and just can't find a catering company. We keep getting responses along the lines of "We are not currently booking any new 2021 contracts until our 2020 brides have rescheduled." A few others were gotten are "we are not currently taking any new contracts for 2021 due to not being part of phase one reopening. How are we supposed to find someone for our wedding if no one is taking contracts 😭 it's making me regret the wedding in its entirety but we have to much money spent on deposits to change our mind and do a backyard wedding. Are you dealing with the same issues? Any advice?

That sucks! I think unfortunately until 2020 couples reschedule and vendors have the go ahead to operate again it might be difficult to secure a vendor, but agree maybe even asking to be put on a contact list once they are rebooked may be a good idea. Also agree with maybe doing a non-conventional food option like food trucks, or see if local restaurants offer catering services (lot’s of local/privately owned restaurants do and get looked over - so may be a good idea to reach out and check!)

Awe i'm so sorry to hear that. Hopefully they get back to you soon.

I guess to think positively is that a lot of brides are moving to 2021 dates that were close to their original 2020 date. Most brides with Feb 2020 weddings happened so I think you are pretty safe with a Feb 2021 wedding.

Another option is to post on the GTA brides covid facebook page. There are hundreds of vendors that are on that group so if you put it out there, i'm sure someone will respond Smiley smile

For those who are focusing on re-booking the 2020 brides, can you ask them to keep you in mind after people have rebooked? It might give you some peace of mind to have a little bit of a backup that way.

Have you looked into less conventional catering options? Maybe see if local restaurants will cater or if you're ok with less formal options maybe food trucks?

Sorry to hear that you are having this problem. As if any of need more added stress during these times.

Have you been able to get a preferred vendor list from your venue, they might be able to help you out? When we were looking at venues, the ones that needed to be catered supplied us with a couple options that they work with.
