Catering Nightmare

My caterer backed out last minute and I had a very specific but easy menu. Since then I have called around and have been quoted from 10,000$ to 17,000 for a 10 person dinner. I am not thinking to save costs maybe I should just cook the meals myself and have someone serve it at the wedding and just hire warming and serving staff. Has anyone ever done that?

    Everyone could have 5 steaks and 5 lobsters each for that price! That is ludicrous!

    I second the restaurant idea, unless you’ve paid to rent a venue then it wouldn’t be worth loosing money on the venue.

    If you were making the food yourself I would definitely recommend having someone with food handlers or the equivalent help you out. There are a lot of little things you may not realize and I wouldn't want to risk anything happening.

    Contacting restaurants is another option, we will be having a restaurant cater and it can be significantly cheaper.

    Umm that’s an insane quote. That’s $1,000 a person. What are you planning on eating?

    Wouldn’t it be better to just go to a nice restaurant? You could feed everyone steak, lobster and champagne for that price.

    Dare I ask what the specific but easy meal is. Those quotes are insane. What was the original quote from the caterer that backed out?

    Catering charge is extremely expensive. Get some help and have the cold food and condiments ready the day before if that helps.

    Ask family to do potluck if they can help on that manner too to let you enjoy your day. Its an alternative way to choose.
