Catering

Ashley, on January 29, 2020 at 23:41 Posted in Wedding reception 0 14
We are ready to pick a caterer, currently deciding between two. Did you have a tasting with your caterer? One that we are looking at doesn't offer tastings and the other is, in my opinion, a bit expensive for a tasting. I'm nervous that despite positive reviews, the food might not be what we personally love. Any thoughts would be appreciated Smiley smile

I would do a tasting for sure. you never know if online reviews are fake plus that way you can meet everyone at the location and see who will be assisting your wedding day food!

I would do a tasting for sure. We have eaten at our venue beforehand (that is how we knew we wanted to get married there!) but we are also doing a tasting. While it is not included, it is fairly priced for what we can get out of tasting so we are just having a nice dinner out.

We didn't get a tasting with our food caterer - but we also have had their food before at other functions so we knew that the reviews were accurate!

I would say that usually the reviews are spot on, but if they have references you could get that would help? (of course most people that write reviews tend to only write one when they have a bad experience... but make sure to read the ones that go into detail!)

Americana it works best for us since we can get married there, eat there and guests can sleep there since half the wedding guests will be coming from Toronto.

We're going on blind faith lol the only thing we knew was the menu selection and price before putting the deposit down. I was stressing out too much about catering and just wanted it done. The one we went with though just impressed me with the way they conducted themselves, so I was comfortable enough with that. Then I hired my month of coordinator and she was so excited to hear that I hired the caterer that I did and couldn't stop talking about how amazing they are, so that really put us at ease. We had the chance to go for a tasting but it would've cost us something like $200 which seemed really steep to us, especially just coming out of Christmas. Plus we thought, it's already a done deal since we put the deposit down so we get what we get.

I would definitely be nervous about food I have never tasted. Our venue will also have a tasting for us. Plus I was lucky enough to attend a wedding there before so I know I like food.

Our venue is our caterer but they did offer an inclusive tasting but only for 2. We wanted our parents to come as well so it cost us $100 in total. I think it’s worth it to get an idea of the type of food you’ll be having the day of and to change anything you don’t like.
