I can’t find a reason to spend tons of money on a wedding cake , are pull apart cupcake cakes tacky??

That’s what we are trying to do, as I don’t remember anyone eating the cake at my sisters wedding

We opted just to do a cupcake table and order a little extra than we think then some can be taken home with us or the guests Smiley smile

Rather than have a wedding cake my fiancee came up with the idea of having cupcake centerpieces on the tables. The cupcakes are done in the shape of flowers and are large enough for individual servings. In addition the hotel that is doing the catering is also providing a dessert table of assorted cakes/squares.

My thoughts are something like this, most people don't even eat the cake.

Could work! We’re thinking of doing just a desert / candy table now instead

Depending on the venue there could be a cake cutting fee up to $3.50/person in addition to the cost of the cake. We decided on cupcakes to save on the extra costs with. Small cake at the top for us to cut.

For the longest time I was torn between cake or cupcakes but I’ll go with the cake that I won from the give away and some matching deserts that I’ll spend $150. Plus our meal plan includes dessert. I’m not a cake person but I just like to have it. I think small one cake if you want it then go for it! I asked the lady who will be doing my desserts and cake two tiers for will cost $220 20-25 people. I think that’s a reasonable price. However, if I go with a cake plus my giveaway cake and desserts, then it would be way too much😂Cake or cupcakes ?? 2

We decided to have cupcakes rather than a traditional cake. This way, we can have multiple flavors and no cutting required!

My mom is making us a small cake to cut for pictures. She has been making family cakes for the last few years and enjoys it and has gotten really good. I'm not sure about the vendor having food made outside without being licensed so for the guests we will be doing cupcakes from a bakery. We don't want a huge cake because we have a dessert with our dinner plus the cupcakes will be out for the evening with pizza, poutine and fruit so we definitely don't need a lot of cupcakes.

Cupcakes are becoming more of a thing! My fiance and I are having a cake though just because. Do whatever you would like, it's your day!

That’s true, maybe I don’t even need a cake or anything just a “sweets” table which I’ve seen before. So much to think about !! Haha

Oh keep in mind, not everyone will have cake or cupcakes (more will if you don't have another dessert but still not everyone).

Agreed with Hank. I bake as a side gig and side hustle bakers definitely charge less. That being said... The cost of 100 cupcakes from me wouldn't be all that different than a cake (depending on the design). Being a baker on the side I am definitely pro cake... We still got the three tier cake I designed with our baker even after we had to reduce to 50. I love a beautiful modern wedding cake. Cupcakes don't impress me as much 🤷🏻‍♀️

To be fair, cakes don't have to be outrageously expensive either. I spent under $250 for cake that could've fed around 100 people.

I've seen many people use cupcakes over cake. Big decorated cakes are becoming less and less popular.

Do want you want for dessert, it's your day and you can do what feels best
