Cake Budget?

$300 seems expensive for 25 people. If you are going fondant icing, then yes the price seems right.

Regular icing is less expensive and around $250 for 2 tiers which should be enough.

Ita true when you say "wedding", the cost will go higher. Give another reason particularly anniversary. You will be surprised how much lower the price will be coming out to.

I ended up paying for our day $400 3 tiers and assorted pastries for 72 guests.

Also, if you're having a smaller, intimate wedding, it's up to you if you want the cake super "wedding-y" or not... some bakeries hear "wedding" and practically double the cost of a regular cake. That's the way it is with a lot of stuff though... you associate basic services/products with a wedding and prices magically creep up.

But from the sounds of it, you found a much more reasonable quote!

$300 should be good so long as your expectations are realistic.

You're so right! I just received a quote for only $125.

Another bakery was quoting $380 but there was no way I was going to pay nearly $400 for a small two tier wedding cake.

Wow that's a lot for a 25 person cake! (I think).... But, if you have the budget, and want to get something more ornate, than that's fine.

My venue includes a s'mores bar option for our dessert, so we are doing a simple 2 tier cake (top tier for saving, 2nd tier for cake cutting), and possibly mini cupcakes. Probably a similar $300 budget for 100 people.

Man. my cake budget is sooo small compared to this. our venue includes pastries/small dessert platters for each table. so we are just getting a small cake made (from an in home baker that we know and love), that we can use to cut/take photos. we budgeted $60 for it.
I would side with your fiancé on red velvet. but that's one of my favs.

I think that should be a great cake budget. Make sure to shop around so that you know you are getting the best deal.

Our caterer does a selection of deserts per person so we get to pick 4 different kinds and they make enough so everyone gets 1. They do some pies and cute deserts in mason jars which we are thinking about! Haven’t fully decided on the extra deserts quite yet!

What other desserts are you serving? What flavor is your cake?

My cake is only 2 tiers but we got it for 160$ we are planning on having other deserts so our desert total including cake is around 450! We are having around 50 people for our wedding!
