So, we are planning a brunch reception following a morning ceremony and curious to know who else has been to/ is planning/ done something similar and how did it work? What did you like/dislike?

Our venue says if we do brunch, we'll need to be out by 2:30pm, which I think is a bit rushed. But we can use the grounds to take photos afterward.

I understand, I’m giving up the night party I know some guests will miss but I just keep reminding myself it’s not my job to keep everyone happy. That, and this timeline is better for the young and older family members. We are looking at a 10 am ceremony, brunch at 11:30 and guests out by 3 pm, tear down and out by 4.
As for food, we are able to customize our menu, which I love! It does save a bit of money but we will also be offering a mimosa and Caesar bar, with a cash bar on the side. No wine on tables.

Thank you! Sometimes feels overwhelming breaking the mold but I’m not regretting our choice - yet!

It's on our consideration. We haven't done our tasting yet nor have we committed to a menu but if we need to save money, we'll switch to brunch. The only thing that's holding us back from fully going the brunch route is how early we'd have to start the day and we'd have to leave the venue pretty early as well.

So happy to hear you enjoyed it! We will have dancing at ours though! The earlier timeline will suit us since we have young kids and so do a lot of our friends and family.

A friend of mine went to one and she loved it. They had a mimosa bar, an omelette station, and a breakfast buffet. The cake was a stack of waffles!

I think it's a great way to do something different. And people drink less at brunch so you'll save in an open bar. And if you aren't big party people it's nice to be able to control the expectations a bit.

I went to a Sunday wedding last fall. They got married at about 11am and then had a brunch reception to follow. The food was great! Crepe station, carving station and then the typical breakfast brunch foods you would see: salads, bacon, eggs, potatoes, etc. They had donut instead of cake. They didnt have a dance or anything so it was probably done by 3:00pm? The only thing I was sad about was that there wasnt a dance but we knew there wouldn't be going into as they are not dancers/partyers, other than that we really enjoyed ourselves. It was a family members wedding so it was a great way to see family for a bit and we didnt have to worry about being home late and having to get up for work early the next day because we were home before dinner.
