Bridesmaids Gifts

Jessica, on November 8, 2019 at 13:55 Posted in Before the wedding 0 15

Hello!

I know this one has been done to death but if anyone has any tips I would greatly appreciate it! My issue is that I have 7 bridesmaids all with wildly different tastes. I'm trying to get a few different items but keep it budget friendly. I'd like to get them some jewellery to wear to the wedding, but again, everyone just has such different tastes. I don't know, I'm thinking of maybe getting different items for each person but that also seems like a lot of added stress. I do like the idea of them having different jewellery to show their personalities, but maybe then I just have them wear their own and do something else?? Normally these are the people I would go to for advice but I don't want them to give me advice on their own gifts! Wedding is December 20th!

So far I have:
-Wrap to wear outside
-Flip-flops for later
-thinking either earring/bracelet combos or earring/necklace

What are you doing?

Well about 4 months prior to the wedding the question of whether they need their nails done for the wedding came up and I just kind of threw it out there. I told them that they don't need their nails done, but if they want that then I could pay for them to get them done as their bridal party thank-you gift Smiley smile

Only thing I worry about is if they forget - but I make sure to remind them every time I see them!!

I love that idea! How exactly did you present the idea to them?

Hey ladies! Thanks for all the tips. I did go out and start collecting different items for everyone. I went to the Bay because they have a large selection and it was easy to compare side by side to make sure everything went together. HOWEVER. It was getting complicated and I was still worried about it not being cohesive at the end of the day. Everyone is already doing different shoes & can have their hair/make up however they like, so I opted to order matching earrings for everyone, and for my bridesmaids I added a couple faux pearl bracelets in different sizes. For my co-maids of honour, I got cz bracelets. If they want to add their own flair, I'll still gonna tell them it's okay to add an item or two of their own if they'd like (ie: rings, necklace, hair clip)!

So, earrings & bracelet for everyone, wrap, flip flops, and I got them each a button up shirt to wear for getting ready. I also picked up some wooden hangers and wrote their names & title on them. I kind of wanted to get them each a holiday ornament, but I just haven't found anything I like in my price range. I may contribute to their hair/make up/nails depending on what service each are getting. Can't afford to pay fully for everyone, but at least it lessens the financial load a bit off them.

(FYI robes look SUPER cute, but sometimes they're hard to keep them fully closed & to feel comfortable getting ready in, especially with a photographer there -- as an alternative, rompers, button-ups, or dresses also work great!) Good luck everyone!!

It took me a long time to come up with something that would work for everybody! I came up with personalized zip up hoodies to wear the day of with their name and title on them, personalized slippers, a bride tribe stemless wine glass with a bottle of wine with a personalized label and a personalized boozy lollipop. I tried to get a little creative and I did a lot of it myself!

It really depends on your budget.

I was in a similar situation and just made it easy by gifting each of my bridesmaids their suits. Yes they're wearing suits, but it really simplified thing and they really appreciated it because it unloaded a huge financial cost for each of them.

A friend of mine had butterflies as her theme for her wedding and bought us each a bracelet that were butterfly themed but each were very different. It was nice she put thought into each one for us

I would've been stressed out too if I had decided to have a wedding party, because like your situation each of them have extremely different tastes in everything! And one of them would've been a guy too, so whatever I got the ladies I probably would've had to think of something separate for him. But while I was a bridesmaid for another friend, she gave us personalized boxes of our favourite things, like our favourite scented candle, candies, nail polish colour, and a necklace with our birthstones. There were only 3 of us though, so I imagine doing that for 7 would could potentially get pricy, but it's a thought

I was going to do gift cards for the exact reason that my 7 bridesmaids are wildly different. I am going to spend extra on personalized cards and do gift cards as well.

I like the idea of jewelry that suits each of them. If you find a shop on Etsy that you like and reached out with a few guidelines (for instance that you needed a bracelet, a funkier pair of earrings, studs, a simple necklace and a statement necklace) the shop owner would probably help. That way there might be a shared element for each piece (colors, metals, specific shapes or florals etc.) so they look consistent but speak to each bridesmaid.

I’m in a different situation than you, as I only have my sister on my side, so it’s a little easier.

I got her a proposal box earlier with a robe, hanger for her dress, candy and a Sephora gift card. I also paid for her dress and I’m paying for her hair and make up.
Are they getting hair and make up done? Your gift could be to pay for one of those.
What about gift cards to their fav places? That’s an agreeable option if they’re very different people.

For my girls I told them ahead of time that I am giving them an IOU gift. They can call upon me at any time and I will pay for up to $75 worth of whatever they need. It can be taking them out on a girls night, buying them alcohol when they are strapped for cash, getting their nails done, ANYTHING - I don't even have to be included, they can just ask for the cash. They loved that idea and so far we have 1 that has used her IOU, and two that know what they want, and two that don't know yet.
