Just because they are not the bride doesn’t mean they don’t also want to look nice. And who wants to get all dolled up and then ruin the makeup sweating because your running around organizing and moving things around. Bridesmaids are NOT there to work for you. Plain and simple. It is NOT their job to make sure your wedding gets planned and gets set up. You don’t ask people to be bridesmaids so you have “extra staff” yes they can assist you, and help the night before, but you are putting so much emphasis on them working for you. It’s not their job as bridesmaids. It’s one thing if they offer all this help, but for you to expect it is unreasonable in my opinion. My bestie is getting pampered with me the day of. And there is zero work for her to do other than hold my stuff, wear her dress, and be supportive. We are paying $1400 to have a day of coordinator. They will set up and take care of everything. And when the celebration is over, no one will have to stay and clean up. Sounds like an exhausting day for your girls.

They will do hair and makeup at home before arriving to wedding or they can do it at venue and takes 15 minutes because its not fancy since they;re not the bride. whats the point of having bridesmaids if they dont work for the wedding. is thats what bridesmaids are not supposed to do? ceremony and reception is at night and they can come in the morning to start setup with a lot of time before the wedding. and if not enough time, i can ask more people to be bridesmaids so they can offer extra help.

    Hi jasmine.

This may sound harsh, but your bridesmaids should never be expected to help you plan, set up, or contribute in any way. They are there to support you emotionally, and if they offer help thats great. I would be super frustrated if I was a bridesmaid and I was expected to do set up/take down, do DIY projects, plan a shower and Bachelorette, buy a dress, ect and then how are they suppose to set up and get ready with you, and do their own makeup and hair. Where will they have time to set up your wedding? i know you have had a lot of feedback already but I just needed to add this. If you ask this much of your bridal party, they may become resentful. And if your bridesmaids offer their time and do help with set up, make sure you do something extra nice to thank them, and give them really nice gifts. Which may just be more expensive than hiring a day of coordinator.
    Wishing you the best!

If you're dictating them to make a purchase for your event, that's a cost regardless of how often they spend money on making such purchases. Regardless, it's a good idea to check with them and communicate your expectations and all associated costs.

They would have to pay for a dress, and based on your other thread they have to pay for hair and makeup. And they'll likely chip in for the bachelorette party as well as all the other parties you want them to plan. All that added up can be at least $500. Did your bridesmaids also just finish school like you did? If so, they are probably in the same financial situation.

Our venue is Summerhill Pyramid Winery in Kelowna BC. Of course the venue is only going to do the stuff that's inside their venue already. The venue is including tables chairs linens cutlery plates and drink glasses. That's why we hired a coordinator so we don't have to deal with all the decorations and such the morning of. Our Day Of coordinator is Lasting Memories Weddings based out of Kelowna

I don't recommend building a bridal party (including both bridesmaids and groomsmen) just for the sake of how they will contribute free labour to your wedding. Yes, they can certainly chip in on some tasks but they're not meant to replace a professional workforce to ensure your wedding runs smoothly, especially considering there are costs associated for them to be a part of the bridal party. If you've already communicated your needs to them and they have agreed to it, that's one thing but based on your other posts, it sounds like that's not the case (correct me if I'm wrong).

I’m sure with all that help you will be good! I would try and limit how much work you and your bridal party are doing on the day of. A day of coordinator would be super helpful to deal with all the tedious set up and sign placement ect I wouldn’t suggest adding people to the bridal party just to get extra help. Also, it does gets more expensive for you in the long run to add more bridesmaids. 😊

For setup, we've hired a day of coordinator where she'll be taking care of all of the set up of our decorations the way we want it for ceremony and reception. Our venue is setting up everything else. So tables, chairs, linens, plates, glasses. Our day of coordinator is also helping us with the timing of when we walk down the aisle and when we enter for our reception.

That all depends on you and if you want help with things. For myself, I'm a perfectionist, so I've done all of our diy by myself for my upcoming wedding. Table Numbers, Centerpieces, Signs etc
