Bridal shower etiquette

Megan, on January 8, 2020 at 21:32 Posted in Before the wedding 0 6
So my mom is planning a bridal shower for me and I’m pretty involved with it because that’s just the person I am lol, and it’s at a bar and grill. Has anyone had their bridal shower at a restaurant like setting? What’s the etiquette for it? My venue allows us to bring our own food and decor which is great because my mom and I have a different vision other than “bar food”, but we can’t bring any drinks being that it is a bar. My mom and a few friends are going to be making the food but she figures everyone can just buy their own drinks. Is that a bad thing? I know at bridal showers usually the food and drink is free but is it different if it’s at a restaurant? I offered to pay for drinks and seeing if the bartender would do like themed cocktails but my mom says not to as I’m the bride and yada yada but she also doesn’t want to pay for everyone’s individual drinks.

I would say that if people want drinks that are acloholic that they are to pay for them theirselves - but maybe you could see about putting some pitchers of lemonade and pay for coffee as well?

You're "hosting" so it would be a nice gesture to pay for some of the drinks. I think you could buy a round or the first pitcher of mixed drinks.
A signature cocktail or specific theme drink could be fun!

I’d suggest buying the first round and maybe have a pitcher of margaritas on the table or a bottle or two of wine. Then people can purchase more drinks if they like, most people will only have a drink or two for a shower depending on the time of your event.

Rather than buying drinks for the whole night, buy a couple (or few depending on the size of the party) from the venue. I personally think that you don’t need to buy drinks for everyone, but it’s to each there own. By having the bottles your still giving enough for everybody to enjoy a toast and potentially an additional glass, but after that they can decide

I probably would pay for the drinks - but that’s just me.

Is there something you can work out with the restaurant? Like my bridal shower is just mimosas and then obviously water is provided.
