Bridal shower attire

Brittany, on May 22, 2017 at 22:28 Posted in Before the wedding 0 10
I am currently considering purchasing a new dress for my bridal shower... is it okay to not wear white? My bridesmaid said if I don't wear white then she will... the dress she wants to wear is identical to the dress I originally planned on wearing... is it weird for her to wear white and not me?

We own the same dress and it's the only dress she has that matches the "theme" so I kinda understand but at the same time... don't try and steal my thunder by wearing the same dress

I think you're right. She would look like the bride in photos

I told her it was weird... she didn't seem to understand. She previously asked if she could switch into the same dress for the wedding after the ceremony. I made it clear that was NOT okay.

Wear what you want. i bought a floral pale dress for mine. also, for your bridesmaid, whatever you are comfortable with is fine. if you're ok with her wearing white, great. if you are not, tell her you'd prefer not to. it can sew confusion among guests and draw the eye and light in photos. so, something to consider.

I think it's totally fine for you to wear whatever you want, but it's not okay for your friend to wear white. I went to a bridal shower where a bridesmaid wore all white (shirt and pants) and she really stuck out. Maybe people made comments about it and whispered about it behind the bride's back throughout the event. A lot of the comments were along the lines of the bridesmaid trying to be the center of attention and take away from the bride's day out of jealousy. I would take to your friend and just say that it's not the right time for her to wear the white dress she wants

You don't have to wear white to your shower. I think your friend wearing white to your wedding is way more tacky. I don't see the shower being a big deal! I'm wearing a pink dress to my engagement party! Wouldn't want to be in white in all my photos and events etc. I say wear the colour, and your friend wear white. The only thing that rubs we the wrong way is why she wants to wear a dress you were planning on wearing! That's more concerning to me than the colour!

Hi Brittany, you should wear whatever you feel good in. That is the most important. Smiley heart Maybe you can get some inspiration here: Bridal party dresses. Are you going to give gifts to your bridesmaids? Bridal shower gifts. Let me know. xx
