Best Honeymoon Destination

KennethKelly, on November 18, 2018 at 11:28 Posted in Honeymoon 0 28

My fiancé and I are avid travelers and are looking for the most romantic, adventurous and exciting place to enjoy our honeymoon together. We live on the beach, so that's not a huge draw for us. We want to explore, be free, have fun and learn something new. Where would you recommend?

Depending on the time of year, Italy. It's lovely, there's lots to do, and you can stay inland if you don't care about hitting the beach.

I bet that was beautiful. There looks to be a lot of small medieval cities around there. Fun!

We explored a lot of Tuscany but we stayed at a cute airbnb just outside of San Gimignano for a few days and it was amazing! We did day trips to Florence and Pisa as well as exploring a lot of smaller unique villages like Montepulciano.

St. Maarten (both sides) we've hit via cruises. Great island.

Now Alaska, that's a very interesting thought! As a pilot, I've always wanted to "fly the bush". What a cool idea! Thank you!

There is a Sandals on Great Exuma that is amazing. I've flown in there a number of times and only had lunch there, but would love to stay.

We were staying with my FH's Aunt and Uncle who live there (it was just outside of Prague in Holubice) so I don't have anywhere to really recommend - but with that being said, bus fair isn't that bad so feel free to stay outside the city if there are any places (keep in mind you would need to speak a little bit of Czech to get on and off because they ask where you are going and base how much you pay off of that.

I would for sure say to visit the Charles Bridge, depending what time of year you go they have a farmers market along the river in the warmer months, and any castle would be great to see. Oh, and although when I was there it was under repair - you have to check out the Astronomical clock!

When we were there we also ventured out to see one of the Nazi concentration camps (Terezín) and it was a must - my FH's great great grandfather was kept captive there but even if we didn't have a connection it would have been worth it.

We did an 8 week trip across Europe for our honeymoon and our favourite part was our 2 weeks in Italy! Highly recommend getting a car and doing a tour around. Our favourite cities were Siena, Cinque Terre, Falcade (we booked a cabin in the Dolomites out of town and spent 2 days hiking) and Venice. Lots to see and do. Historic sites, beautiful churches, great wine, good food, nice people, amazing scenery, lots of hiking Smiley smile

Interesting. I didn’t know our Canadian dollar went further in Prague. I’ll be adding Prague as a possibility to the honeymoon list.
Is there any place in specific you would recommend? Did you travel throughout the country when you traveled there?
    Thanks!

SE Asai - Chang mai Thailand is beautiful... there's an elephant sanctuary, great night market, cooking classes... Bangkok is great for shopping and night life... or any of the islands in Thailand for relaxation. Plus the food is phenomenal. Cameron Highlands in Malaysia is one of my favourites as well.
Or a little closer to home... New Orleans is one of my most favourite cities! There's so much history and if you're weird like me the cemeteries are amazing! 😉

Definitely recommend! We took a vespa tour around Tuscany and wine country. I’ve heard Siena is a must see. We didn’t have time unfortunately but next time for sure! We watched the World Cup next to the Duomo which was an experience in itself.

    Brittany,

Thanks for the suggestion. We did the Baltic cruise this past summer. St. Petersburg was a standout for us. Amazing!

Me and my family go to Cancun Mexico every year, there's so much to do there, the weather is amazing and it's very tourist safe. It's great for both relaxing and adventurous type of vacationing.

Personally, I love cruising... normally to tropical destinations, however if you want more culture, adventure or sightseeing, I'd STRONGLY suggest a 2 week Scandinavian/Baltic cruise (England, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Estonia, Russia). It was super interesting, absolutely beautiful, and I love that you can see 7 different countries while only unpacking your suitcase once! That link isn't for your time frame, but it would be to get an idea of the itinerary.

I used to live in Europe, and have traveled extensively... and it is one trip I will definitely be repeating with my FH down the road.

Prague is awesome. If you're interested in Prague you need to also put Budapest on your list. It's the sister city to Prague, but cleaner and has more to see.

We love Europe! You're right, that would be a great spot. We haven't been to Poland yet. Or, maybe a home in the French wine region. Great idea!

I haven't been many places - but I have been to Prague! I highly recommend it too. Our Canadian dollar is worth so much more there so the beer and food is really cheap. Just make sure you go into the pubs that aren't in the more touristy parts of the city of course. It goes from a 500ml of beer costing $1.50 to costing $5! Plus the castles are to die for!
