Before reception

What will you and your new husband have playing as you exit the ceremony? I think we have decided on hooked on a feeling as we want something fun and upbeat!

Our ceremony and reception will be held on the same property, which is also where a high majority if guests are staying so it's kind of perfect! How do those of you with same spot cerenony/reception work it out for your guests during photos?
Our ceremony is 1230pm, and reception is set to start at 3pm. Ceremony should only be 30 or so minutes, and I dont want people heading to the reception tents right away. Guests staying on the property can hang out in their cabins and I'm sure other guests can hang out at the beach or in someone's cabin as well, but should I mention this in the invitation as a heads up? The people not staying in location are mostly the ones who live in town, wo I'm not too worried about them..

The reception tents will be opening at 215, so it's about 1.25hours to kill between. They will have access to horseshoes, yardzee, and other yard games in the meantime and the bar will be opening ($5 drinks until the reception actually begins so no one gets too drunk before) at 230 as well. At 3pm the bar will go to a toonie bar! Everyone can settle in in the 45 minutes remaining and socialize in the tents without the opportunity of anything getting disrupted too much 😂

Also, what are you entering the reception to?! We havent decided yet but want something fun!

Haven't picked a recessional song yet... Honestly, I've been so fried the last couple weeks, I can't wait to have next week off and actually reflect on what needs to be done still for the wedding that's in THIRTY DAYS!!!! Smiley cry Smiley ups

We're doing photos first, due to winter/day light, and not wanting a cocktail hour... So my guests just go from the ceremony, to upstairs to the reception! We're gonna take 10-15 minutes alone with just the 2 of us, while people find their seats, get a drink, etc...

We haven't even picked a 1st dance song. let alone any other music.

I would just put it on the invitations what time everything starts. people find ways to entertain themselves. you could even task friends you know with starting yard games, so that way others will join in.

OMG, I haven't even thought about a song to exit the ceremony from. We haven't even decided what song I'll be walking down the aisle to yet either, ugh.

I seriously love how you're having your reception in a tent! That's going to be so lovely Smiley smile

At my first wedding 20 years ago we had the Star Wars soundtrack sprinkled throughout. Both our recessional and reception entrance were scores from the soundtrack, along with some of the background music. I still have friends who remember that part of the day.

This time around, our recessional will be something upbeat on the bagpipes. The piper is going to play jigs etc while we do the group photo (we have a max of 30 people) and then go in for the reception. No grande entrance for this wedding, mostly because of how small it is.

Our recessional will be to Hall & Oates "You Make My Dreams". We also wanted something upbeat and fun!

As long as all of that information (games, drinks available) is available somewhere for you guests, then I wouldn't worry too much about them keeping busy during the time between the ceremony and reception.

Our ceremony and reception are also taking place at the same venue. Depending on the weather, guests will be able to mingle while we're taking our pictures. The bar will also be available to them during that time.

We haven't figured out the "grand entrance" yet. My FH, not wanting a lot of attention, thought we just "appeared" and sat down for dinner. Same thing with our final exit, I need to figure out a plan.

I haven't gotten to the point of choosing songs yet, but will definitely be doing something Upbeat and fun for the recessional!

As for guests finding something to do, I would just have the ceremony and reception start times on the invites, your guests will find ways to entertain yourselves. You could include some games if you want, especially since it sounds like your wedding is outdoors.

Our ceremony and reception is in the same place too and most of our guests are staying in the hotel too. Lots of times guests will also mingle amongst themselves, especially family members who haven't seen each other in awhile.
