Always go with the official website, in this case Citizenship and Immigration Canada, or www.cic.gc.ca good luck!

I needed to know where to look to be able to figure this out. I am currently in the United States and I did not know what website would be true to give me the right answers.

You should definitely look into the website and see the requirements and what would be your best course of action, if it gets confusing, seek counsel from an immigration lawyer, you don't want to be refused, none of us here can provide you with this assistance in detail. I work at an Embassy, so trust me when I say this is definitely not the place to seek such detailed information.

As others have mentioned, you don't get automatic citizenship, you first go through the process of applying for permanent residency which takes several months to over a year, and after you have spent X amount of days in Canada you are eligible to apply for citizenship. Again, none it's automatic, and both take time to process.
The website is super complete, but you might have to spend some time digging to find all the information you need, get familiar with it and the forms, and start collecting all the information you will need when you are ready to apply.

Take a look at the site I had in my previous comment for all the ins and outs of becoming a citizen.

The first trip is only a couple weeks, I can not stay up there and not work for 6 months. I would eventually move up there to be with my future husband.

There are certain requirements to become a citizen that you can read about online ( https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship.html ). If you are just coming to visit for a few weeks at time, and will not be working, I think you can just keep your American citizenship and travel with that if you'll be living in the USA.

I live in the USA. I am going to Canada next year and getting married. I want to be able to be a citizen of both so I can come back and forth to see my family and be able to come home to my future husband.

I believe the USA and Canada allow dual citizenship. The first step is getting Permanent Resident status (like getting a USA green card).

After a period of time as a permanent resident, you’re permitted to apply for citizenship.

That’s the typical trajectory. I would check with Canadian Citizenship and Immigration or a lawyer to ensure you’re going about it correctly.

Both the PR and citizenship application can be lengthy processes, but can be worth it overall.

My FH is American and we are going through the PR immigration process for him in Canada.

We have done the bulk of the paperwork ourselves and are getting the help of a lawyer.

Where are you becoming a dual citizen? Each country has different requirements and some don't allow dual citizenship at all. I would look on the country's Immigration website for more information.
