Question!! We want one of our friends to marry us, but we understand we need a commissioner. Can we have the person do the script but the commissioner do the legality parts?? Help!! We really want to have our friend marry us as he means so much to our lives

    I think it all depends on the commissioner in my opinion. You could always talk to a few and see what they have to say

    You can't have both unless it was an eloped for the legal Commissioner and witnesses to sign. You have a second wedding for the guest list present, then its ok for your friend to marry you than to spend twice on a commissioner.

    I think it will depend on the commissioner. Legally it’s supposed to be a commissioner or religious official but I’ve heard of some commissioner’s allowing someone else to do most of the talking. Or you could always take care of the legal portion afterward or before with the officiant and witnesses and the main ceremony will be a sort of fake ceremony with your friend officiating.
