Hi everyone,

How much should one estimate for open bar for roughly 45 people for 5 hours? I would like to do a cash bar but unfortunately the restraunt we booked at only does one master bill. I was estimating $1500 but not sure if that's too low.

How much will your crowd drink?
Open Bars are usually flat rates, paid per head, usually starting around $50 and more depending on the quality/brands of alcohol. If your crowd is a heavy drinking one, it's worth it to go with this option because you'll know the final cost upfront and no matter if they drink a gazillion drinks, the price won't change.
If your crowd is a light drinker, you can have a Host Bar where you pay for every drink that your guests consume. From the guest experience, it's no different than an open bar because they simply go to the bar and get a drink without taking out their wallet. Drinks priced like this are usually around $10-12 each so if you know no one will drink more than 3 drinks throughout the whole night, it would fit in your budget.
