Banff Brides...need your help!

Samantha, on May 14, 2019 at 20:25 Posted in Alberta 0 5

I'm just in the beginning stages of planning my wedding. My fiancee and I are seriously thinking of getting married in Banff. After some research we found a ceremony point we love - however that leaves the reception part to look into. Our wedding would be very small 20-30 people and I was thinking of having a dinner in a restaurant rather then planning a reception afterwards. Just an idea though...I really don't know what I am doing!

Are there any Banff brides that could provide me some ideas and feedback or possible ideas?

Thank you so much!

    Hi there Samantha!

Banff is a beautiful area for a wedding! Are you from nearby? Or a different province?

The WeddingWire venue directory has a ton of places you can check out. It's possible to filter by the venue type e.g. restaurant wedding.

Would you also consider checking out local hotels? They may have a semi-private or private room you can rent for your reception.

So I’m getting married in Canmore, however we attended a wedding in Banff last year. Highly recommend park distillery. The food was amazing, they have an incredible space upstairs for small events(I think there were 30 at the one I attended) with a bar and a balcony to overlook Banff.

Congrats! If you haven’t found a photographer yet, may I suggest Sage and Heart. She is absolutely wonderful and you won’t regret it.

Ah man, I'm super jealous of your Banff wedding. If we could have gotten married anywhere and didn't have to keep guests' travel in mind, we would have done Lake Louise in a heartbeat!

I hope you find a place! There are some amazing restaurants in Banff!

A couple of places that I've been to where the food is incredible are The Maple Leaf, and The Grizzly House, which is a steak and fondue place, Could be fun if you want t a more casual vibe, rather than an upscale dining experience, which is more what Maple Leaf is. Do you live in Winnipeg? I'd say the Maple Leaf is similar to Peasant Cookery. About the same price and dining experience.

Call a few places and see if they accommodate large group reservations. The Grizzly house is insanely popular, and I'm not sure they have a private room or anything.

Where is your reception? We went to a wedding at the Rimrock Hotel and it was stunning.

Do you have a ballpark budget for dinner? There are a lot of great spots and options...but budget definitely factors in.

There are also a lot coordinators who offer packages and arrange small weddings as well as elopements. They can help with permits if you’re looking at getting married outside the townsite, florists, cake, restaurant suggestions etc.

(We were going to get married in Banff - similar sized guest list - but ended up choosing a spot in Calgary.)

Park Distillery in Banff does weddings but they also have smaller private and semi-private rooms. I believe a couple of their rooms are around a 40 person capacity.
