We went with a band for a few hours for something different, and we're going to DJ the rest ourselves thanks to Spotify.

I would go with a DJ just for the variety of music that can be played.A band would be cool for the ceremony portion if you can afford it.

We are doing both. The DJ will play between the band sets and also when the band is finished. Cons of a band? Expensive. Very expensive. But, if you can afford it - it takes a wedding to a whole other level.

We are going with a DJ instead. The variety of music is better and when he needs a break, music can still be played. We didnt want gaps at our reception.

We are going with a DJ, if I can afford it I would hire a band too.

We're getting both. A band for the dinner portion and a DJ later in the evening.

I would think a DJ would give you a lot more variety. Unless a band has a really diverse playlist and can do some crowd pleasers I would stick with a DJ for dancing.

I have inquired about this and bands will mostly play for the dinner portion and DJ will start from 9pm onwards... also some bands have their own DJ. So just inquire. In my opinion, I think you should do a band. That would be awesome. Good luck!

No worries. We were at a wedding that had both. While I enjoyed the band it got a bit too loud during dinner lol. That’s my only complaint. and a DJ was nice afterwards due to variety. We are having a band just for the ceremony portion and during appetizer hr. Then doing DJ during the evening Smiley smile good luck! Lots to think about Smiley smile

Yeah exactly! I had the same thought about more options with a DJ. I wonder if a band would engage "the crowd" more or if a DJ would be just as much fun. So hard to decide! Thanks for your opinion, Gloria!

Personally I’d say DJ- more options... but if you have a budget that you can get both you can do band for the dinner portion then DJ afterwards?
