Awkward venue viewing experiences?

That's horrible to hear and glad you didn't get to the venue. As a courtesy, a call would be good to get to reschedule.

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you! Something similar happened to us. We went to this venue and we waited almost a half hour and there was no one in sight. We even called them and there was no answer. We ended up leaving and the guy called back 3 hours later (!!!) But we didn't pick up. I'm glad we didn't waste our time with them though cause we ended up getting the perfect venue!
As much as it sucks in the moment, I think everything happens for a reason so I'm sure your perfect venue is still out there and this one was not meant to be. Best of luck!

Yes! That's exactly how we felt. If they put in so little effort just for a viewing, I really wouldn't trust them with my big day. Glad to say we've booked another venue now and are very happy with the choice

That's so awkward! We basically got the "you can look around by yourself" thing too but we insisted there wasn't really a point unless someone accompanied us. We didn't know where to go and we didn't have any keys. Glad to hear you found something you loved

So sorry to hear of this discouraging start to your hunt for the perfect venue.With the amount of time and dedication we put into our weddings, is say that if you didn't feel welcomed like a valued guest, it's not the place to hold the wedding. I'm certainly glad that your search has improved!! All the best in planning your big day!!

My FH and I had 4 appointments set up on a Saturday and our first one of tre day was quite awkward. We showed up on time (10am) and no one was there except the janitor mopping the floor, and the venue was all set up for a wedding later that day. We rang the bell on the main desk and no one came so I called the phone number and we sat there listening to the phone ring. Eventually someone came and said they weren't expecting us, and the person I made the appointment with wasn't coming in until the afternoon. They said we could look around on our own and gave us the keys to the building to explore on our own! She walked us through the kitchen to get to the dining hall and then left us alone. We walked around awkwardly and then returned the keys and went on to our next appointments. Very strange but thankfully we weren't in love with the place and we found a venue we both loved on our third appointment of the day and then cancelled our fourth appointment

I never experienced this Sharon and I'm sorry you went through this. Personally, I would look at other venues as this is one of the important items to have. Hoping for the best outcome for you.

Yes! Doctor's House and Angus Glen Golf Club are gorgeous! We're going to see Eglinton Grand next week as well and I'm very excited for that.

Right? Someone from their marketing department saw that I had made a complaint about it and said someone would get in touch with me shortly. I've seen a few more venues since that time and honestly, I'm not really reconsidering going back to them. Hope you've found your venue!

Wow, I wouldn't go with them. I had a few like that... One place that was I really interested in never got back to me on the phone or e-mail and another one that I was also really excited about it, when I got there to take the tour, the lady was super cold, she would answer all my questions but I didn't fell she was trying to make us few like that was the place. I didn't feel confident, so we said no.

Now that we basically made our choice, the first place get back to me... oh well, if you can't back to me in two weeks imagine when I have a urgent wedding matter to deal?!

For sure we did! We ended up going with the very first venue we looked at. There was a different golf course that I fell in love with but it was more expensive then what we wanted, but the lady we met with was so wonderful that I have stayed in touch with her and she always wants to hear about our wedding plans, and she wanted to see our engagement photos and is willing to help up with any questions we have! I wish more people were like this. We didn't even go with her and she is still wanting to be involved with helping us - that says a lot about who she is as a person, and I am willing to bet she gets a lot of weddings done there because of that!

That sucks! Well, it's a loss for her since she's the one that couldn't make a sale. Hope you found something with better service!

Thanks everyone! Yeah, that place is no longer on our list of considerations. Really says something about the kinda service they might offer if this is the first impression.

Oh NO I'm so sad your first visit went badly- but I swear, they won't all be that way!

I agree with others- don't book with this venue! They have made a terrible first impression, and I would not trust my wedding with them! Keep looking, you'll find a place that makes you feel butterflies and fits your vision...AND will provide good service!

I knew exactly the venue I wanted, alot of my friends and my sisters friends have used the same venue (small town limited choices)... The manager is kind of gruff and sarcastic but he answers the phone or gets back to you in a reasonable amount of time... A week is not reasonable, if their customer service is that bad before even discussing your wedding I can only imagine the issues you would face after booking... Keep looking lots of places would love to have you as a client.

Yeah definitely don't book them if they can't even make it to your appointment! It's one of those things that when you find the right place, you'll know!

Oh no, I am sorry you experienced that! I can't say I had anything like that happen. The one experience I had was at a golf course and the lady didn't seem very interested in telling us everything about the place, it seemed like she just wanted us to leave ASAP. She didn't sit down with us and show us any photos of past weddings there, didn't give us any price estimations, didn't take the time to really answer our questions and when she did answer them it was usually with an "I am not sure".... She also was getting married and she was doing it there and so all she really did was talk about her upcoming wedding. It didn't stop us though, we looked at 9 or 10 places total and we had some really great experiences and had a lot of options to still choose from.

I would just not go with them! But don't let it get you down, most are very on the ball!! Book a few more appointments and put this crappy experience out of you mind. They just made your decision easier
