Average cost per head for non sit down dinner

Alexandra, on August 4, 2021 at 12:20 Posted in Wedding reception 0 2
Hello we are in the process of picking our catering we are not doing a dinner we are doing finger food and platters and later reception 645-930 will be good service and a late night snack at around 11-1130. Roughly 50 people with two children what is a good price per head without tax?? We were looking at 40 is that too much or too little it very confusing and the caterer is not giving prices with the menu making it more challenging. Any guidance is welcome!

Even though it's not a sitdown dinner, you should give enough that it'll fill your guests as if they're having dinner. Depending on the portion size, I recommend at least 15 pieces of food per guest, with at least half of them be protein based. Typically caterers charge roughly $15-20 for around 5 pieces of food but that depends on the caterer and what the items are. Seafood based appetizers will inherently be more expensive while veggie and carb based ones less so. Don't forget that the cost also factors in the staff to serve said food throughout the function.
