Arbour Assistance

Allison, on May 27, 2019 at 18:29 Posted in DIY 0 8

Hey everyone,

I had my vision set on an arbour made of 4 wooden/glass doors. Originally we were going to have our ceremony on the lawn, however we have moved it to the deck. The deck has two entry points (one on the east and west ends) but our ceremony will be facing South - hopefully that makes sense still - my dilemma is, will the arbour look funny with the railing behind half of it. Should we skip the arbour completely? I feel like we need a focal point but at the same time we have the view of the two ski hills (June wedding).... so torn on what to do and running out of time to make the decision.

(My brother and my Dad would kill me if they found out I posted this lol)

What we were originally planning on doing was doors open for the ceremony then pushed together /closed for the reception.

I think both styles of the arbour are beautiful and definitely use it. I see your point about keeping the focus on you and your FH rather than the background beyond. Try to pretend you are the guest, which one would you rather see?

Thank you ladies for reassuring me! I shall keep it (:

It's an idea I had right from the start, and we purchased the doors early on so I wasn't sure if it still fit with all the changes that have been happening.

NEW DECISION THO: Another idea would be to bring them closer together, and have it create one fluent piece. Imagine two doors flush, in the middle, with the other two outer doors now closer to the middle but still on the same angle to provide support. Does this block the view of the ski hills or does it help centre attention on us two during the ceremony with the view now on either side... similar to the picture below (don't mind my quick photoshop cut and paste)

I think it will look no different than that one pic you posted of a ceremony taking place. They have something to centre in on and it looks just fine.

Your arbour will look incredible wherever you put it. Your dad and brother have done such a good job!

I think it will still work!! I like the inspiration pic and it looks like it’s coming together nicely! The wood of the deck will tie together with the arbour too!
