April outdoor wedding in Ontario

Aimerance, on January 4, 2021 at 00:19 Posted in Ontario 0 9
My wedding is this coming April and we are possibly looking at switching the venue from indoor to outdoor to help increase capacity. The problem is that we live in Canada where April is still a little chilly. I'm looking for something in Toronto or surrounding GTA area, with possible tent heating. Also a venue that allows outdoor catering

We're about the same as you. Just trying to figure out all possible options and have some plans in place. I can't help with a tented place but the guild Inn Estate has heated patios.

Your not alone, my weddings April 30th. We're trying to stay positive but still have multiple plans. Think sunshine! April can be very unpredictable, we can get snow, or rain storms, even weather that feels like 20. The frustrating thing is we won't know till 2 or 3 weeks before the date.

Keeping a back up plan indoors may be nice in case the weather changes unexpectedly. The ceremony can still be held outdoors though the cost of additional set adds up quick. Catering is great if the price for food and liquor fits your budget. The venue may supply the set up and heaters would be a nice way to keep guests warm in the tent. I hope the weather will cope and make your day great when the season arrives.

We have 50 right now. We have an indoor venue but we're just laying out every possible option

There are venues that will allow outside catering - it's just that they will jump you with higher rental fees since they can't make revenue off their catering. I don't say this to be discouraging, just wanted to give you a heads up.

How many people are you looking to have? With the way things are now, I think even with outdoor gatherings, capacity won't go above 50.

I would prefer outside catering because no venue has our cultural food. When I was venue searching we did get some venues that insisted on their own catering but often times when I would explain the type of cuisine we're looking for some were understanding

I'm just saying, April showers tend to be much heavier than summer rain. You could get lucky but there's a higher chance of rain, and that much water can be problematic for proper power setup (unless you don't need any lighting or sound setup in your tent).

Are you contracted to a particular catering company? Is that why you're asking about outside caterers? Because most venues will want you to use their own in-house caterer or else they'll hit you harder with rental fees.

I'm not to worried about rain because there are summer weddings where it rains all day. I think I'm more worried about the cold

If you go this option, make sure you have a tent and plenty of heaters to keep everyone warm.

I think April is problematic not just because of the cold but also the rain. It's tough to run power lines through if the area is soaking in pouring rain.

Does your current venue not have an outdoor option?
