Affordable dj for Lake Louise (banff)

Alicia, on January 1, 2019 at 12:39 Posted in Wedding reception 0 4

We're getting married in Banff National Park in 2020, Lake Louise specifically. And I'm having a hard time finding a dj who is affordable. I was hoping for <1000$. Any suggestions?

I'm open to just doing a playlist ourselves, but I like the idea of getting a light show with a dj. How important are lights when it comes to dancing?

For me. lights weren't a big deal. at no wedding I have been to did a light show wow me. but let me tell you, a good dj and great song list that gets the party going. is definitely SUPER important (our top 3 wedding things were food, music, booze). so for us. a dj is worth the money.

our dj is $1000. that includes some basic lights/all the equipment/whatever songs we want. they also help with our day of coordination and will MC for us. not sure of pricing in AB. but hope that helps.

Because Lake Louise is so small, most vendors have to come in from Banff or Canmore, about an hour’s drive away. That’s why it’s crazy expensive.

For me, lights aren’t super important, but a wicked-good playlist is.

You can easily do some DIY lighting, but it probably won't have that WOW factor that DJ services can provide. Some party supply stores sell or even rent lighting you could use!

Unfortunately when I tried searching here on WW there were no results for that area - so I tried searching on google. I did find one or two places but none of them listed their prices on their website (only the services they offer). Unless anybody else has some suggestions I would hate to say it but you'll probably have to request a quote from all of them (unless you already have any they are all over $1000).

As for how much lights are important - they do set a mood but it wouldn't be a big deal if you DIY'd your own lights or didn't have them.

Also, congrats on the engagement and welcome to the WW community!
