a fair warning about Diying things for your wedding

Rhea, on April 16, 2025 at 21:06 Posted in DIY 2 2
As a bride whose almost at the finish line (2 months almost exactly omgomg) I would've liked to see this.

Be honest with yourself about your limitations. You don't need that "just one more" DIY element for your wedding. I'm not talking to the frugal brides or the type A brides or even just the crafty brides. I'm talking to my ADHD girls who's hobby is abandoning new creative hobbies. The thing about weddings is there's a hard deadline, you have to finish everything you started for the wedding before the big day or you don't get to have that finished element at your wedding. This can be the cause of a lot of stress and tears (me writing this) that could be avoided by delegating to a vendor. I'm definitely not saying do nothing. DIY is super fun and rewarding and having that personal touch on your big day can be even more so. I'm just saying be honest with yourself about your creative and physical limits before going all out on the best most Pinterest worthy DIY wedding the world has ever seen.
Happy DIYing (or not DIYing) everyone!

Centerpieces! I did a couple test runs and it just was not turning out how I'd hope and not to mention transporting that myself to the venue... so we paid a florist and al though it was not cheap, having them put together my vision and deliver to the venue was so stress free that I would 100% pay again al though may be an unpopular opinion because I know a lot of girlies who have put the arrangements together themself for their big day.

Yes to all of this. Smiley heart It's honestly so easy to fall into the trap of "just one more DIY thing" and before you know it you're knee deep in glue sticks and deadlines. I had big plans too but quickly realised I didn't have the time (or patience) for it all. I ended up designing our invites on Canva and then got them printed by Vintage Prints (vintageprints.co.uk). It meant I still had control over the look and could assemble them myself, which scratched the DIY itch without completely overwhelming me. Little compromises like that definitely helped me stay sane!
