a & b List Invites

Francesca, on August 5, 2020 at 08:31 Posted in Wedding reception 0 3

Hello everyone!

Looking for some opinions on the whole A/B List for guests. Our new wedding date is November 6th, 2020. As Ontario has moved into Stage 3 we are now allowed up to 50 guests per indoor events. My venue has suggested to have an A list of 50 people and then a B list in case numbers increase and we can allow more for the reception.

My question is - given the circumstances and how we don't really know when it would even be announced if more guests can attend indoor events, when do you think is the cutoff for me to be sending these extra invites to the B list guests (whether mail or electronically)? Currently my A list RSVP deadline is September 5th - with of course some wiggle room as we don't need the full numbers until 2 weeks before the wedding. But I'm worried if we don't find out until September or October, then it may be too late for me to get responses from our B list.

Any tips or opinions is appreciated! Smiley heart

We have done the same thing. We have REALLY been struggling to get our number down to 50 (currently stuck at 59). Hopeful we will be allowed 60-70 by our wedding in October. We used the online invites on wedding wire and will send out to your A-list first, then by word of mouth reach out to additional people if we are allowed and just send them the wedding website direct to RSVP.

If, and that's a big IF, we even allow more than 50 inside, it won't be until October at the earliest when we see the results of school re-opening and travel happening more frequently (we're already seeing regular instances of positive-tested travelers landing in Toronto Pearson Airport).

If you are able to invite the B-list, I think it will need to be done electronically to minimize delays.

That sounds like a good plan, having the rsvp September 5 for the first group. Unfortunately I don’t think we will expand much beyond 50 people before the end of the year, with the covid flare ups that have been happening, so I don’t think you’ll need a long B list.
I’ve made it a habit since my rsvp date is coming up, to call my guests and double check with how they are feeling in regards to covid. That way you can take the temperature of your guests and get a few ‘yes’ votes that didn’t make it back in the mail.
