2 ceremonies on the same day

Susanne, on November 6, 2019 at 22:20 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 8
Is it weird to have 2 ceremonies on one day? My family is catholic and my parents want us to be married in a church . So we were thinking having a church wedding and then the outdoor ceremony we wanted. The catholic church one would be restricted on what we could do and the outdoor one would be what we want and in the mountains.

That's actually a very neat idea, and a good way to compromise!

Tori has the invitation outline down, you will have a longer day in order to accommodate both ceremonies, but you should be able to pull it off. You'll probably get some guests come to both, or one or the other

Sounds like a great compromise to me.

I'm not a religious person, but my parents are. I'm not getting married in a church, but I'll probably ask my dad to say a blessing as a "meet in the middle" gesture.

The most important thing to know is that your happy with the decision of doing both given what's to work with indoor church wedding wise and all your outdoor wedding wishes. Its always a good thing over nothing concept.

As long as you are up to the task of being awake earlier in the day to be able to get both fit in there I say it sounds like the best option!

As for wording it, I would have the normal beginning where it invites the guests to share in your wedding day - and then just have the 3 times listed. Like,

    1pm: Religious ceremony @ _____ place

    4pm: Outdoor ceremony @ _____ place

    6pm: Reception @ _____ place

And then people can either ask you when they RSVP or it will be made clear via word of mouth.

Yeah that's what we thought. We would do photos after the church ceremony and then photos between the second ceremont and reception while other people are at happy hour. How would you word it on an invitation ?

That’s sounds like a good compromise. Plus, people can come to both, or just one if they need to. And you can do your photos in between
