2 ceremonies on different days

So due to religion and what we envisioned for our wedding , we were thinking of doing 2 ceremonies and a reception. The church ceremony ceremony would be on a weekday and would just include our immediate family. The focus would just be in me and FH and God and then on the weekend we would do a celebration "ceremony" outdoors in the mountains with reception to follow with all our extended family and friends. Has anyone heard of people doing this or did you do this? If so , how did it go?

We always wanted to do one outdoors in the mountains and my FH agrees to do one in the church first because its important to me and my family .

    There are 2 weddings done by many couples due to their backgrounds. Its common to happen one day after another and reception following the second marriage. It all depends on how and where you have it. Back up plans are great to have if outdoors is chosen and weather forecast.

    I havent done this or been to a wedding like this but at least your having a church ceremony to keep the parents happy!

    Sounds good to me - we didn't do this but I don't see a problem with it. In fact it allows you to either celebrate 2 days or pick whichever one you like better Smiley tongue

    I agree with Kelsie, just make sure you have your witness' there to sign the legal papers!

    I think it’ll be fine.


    Most people probably won’t go to the weekday ceremony anyway (unless they’re really close to you) so the weekend ceremony will be the real party!
    Just make sure your bridal party knows in advance so they can book appropriate time off work!
